The Angel at Hetton
North Yorkshire
HOTEL & RESTAURANT
The Angel is a pub with a rich history, embedded within the village of Hetton, important to both locals and tourists, our client had a vision to transform this quaint pub placed in the Yorkshire Dales, into a destination to sample food cooked by Michelin Star chef, Michael Wignell. The existing interior was tired, your typical aged public house, and did not reflect Michael’s vision for the food menu. The building was full of characterful features with lots of untapped potential. The brief by our client was to create a clean, minimal interior, with warmth and a welcoming atmosphere. Our client was very keen for us to design with local suppliers and local materials, something we are passionate about. It was important to allow the building’s features to be the hero, then simply overlaying calming neutral tones to the walls and introducing strong wood furnishings, built from local fallen oak trees. Every part of the interior had a story, a history, a hand-crafted character that couldn’t be replicated.
